The image gallery is where you store images in your personal webspace on our server, which you can then select to use anywhere where you see the 'click to add image' icon (in the theme editor) or 'add image' words (for each content block in page editor).
You must upload an image to the image gallery before it can be used on your website.
To upload an image:
- select the 'upload images' tab
- click the browse button; this will open a window with a list of all the folders and files on your computer
- locate your file and click on it; the path and filename will appear in the text box
- (optional) type in text that you want to appear when someone moves their mouse over the image (such as a description of what the image is or who's on it)
- click 'upload'; the image will be saved in the 'my images' section
Note: you cannot upload images greater than 500Kb (0.5Mb). Attempting to upload an image larger than this will result in it being automatically rejected.
For web pages, it is best (for visitors, who don't want long download times) that images sizes are ideally less than 30k (which would take 7 seconds to download on a 56k modem under ideal conditions - so a page with 10 images on, with a total file size of 300k, would take 1 minute 10 seconds to download)
Please note: you can only upload images with .jpg, .gif and .png extensions, which are the most optimised for web page usage. Images with other extensions will be automatically rejected.
To place an image in a page or on the theme editor
- select the 'my images' tab
- select use
- the image will appear in the location (image hotspot on the theme editor or page content block) from which you entered the image gallery
To edit or delete an image:
- go to the 'my images' tab
- click 'edit' next to the image
- amend the alt text or delete it here
Note: deleting an image from the my images gallery will result in the image being deleted from all instances where that image is being used within your site, and it being replaced by xx.
